Camp Lunches – Our next Camp Lunch is this Friday, November 17th.  Please turn in your child’s request and money as soon as possible for Camp Lunches in order for the volunteers to get an early count for ordering and distributing.  We will not be accepting orders on Friday.
 
Annual Fund Dinner – Our 11th Annual Fund Dinner is this Saturday, November 18th at 6:30 PM in the Fr. Fox Social Hall.   The Annual Fund is a process to seek charitable funds used to support the operating budget, provide additional resources that enrich the educational experiences of our students and keep tuition rates at a reasonable level.  Our distinguished graduate this year is Stephanie Janik. 
 
NO ESS – Please note there will be no afternoon ESS on Wednesday, November 22 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
 
Last Day – St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive  - the last day for the Food Drive will be this Friday, November 17th.  At this time of the year many people need our assistance to help supply Food Banks.  It is up to us to feed the hungry.  Please help us with the food drive by bringing non-perishable items to the classrooms.  All of the items will be donated to St. Vincent de Paul.  Monetary donations to St. Vincent de Paul are also welcomed.  Below are some suggestions for items to donate but feel free to bring additional food items.  It would be appreciated if the canned items were in regular sized cans #15 and overall smaller sized cans and packages.
 
PS/Pre-K – Toilet paper, Kleenex and paper towels
Kindergarten – Canned fruit and Jello
Grade 1 – Cream of chicken soup & chicken and beef broth, soups, gravies
Grade 2 – Pancake mix and syrup, and jelly and jams
Grade 3 – Canned meat – chicken, tuna, turkey and ham
Grade 4 – Canned vegetables, pasta, spaghetti sauce
Grade 5 – Tuna Helper, Hamburger Helper, rice, box potatoes, instant pasta dishes
Grade 6 – Fruit juice, cake, cookie and bread mixes and frosting
Grade 7 – Cold cereals, instant hot cereals, powdered milk and hot chocolate mix
Grade 8 – Shampoo, hand/bath soap and dish soap

***FULCRUM TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR 2018-19***
 
Fulcrum Tuition Assistance – This year the process for those interested in applying for tuition assistance for the 2018/2019 school year has been opened up from October 1st, 2017 to January 5th, 2018.   You will apply online at http://www.fulcrumfoundation.org/apply-for-grant/assistance.  Please see the enclosed letter with directions on how to apply for assistance.
 
The application deadline is January 5th, 2018.  There are no extensions.  You may want to start now to ensure that you have enough time to gather all the information required.
We will not be holding a mandatory meeting this year.  We are instead providing this information to you to help with your application process. 
 
***ARCHDIOCESAN VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS***
 
In order for anyone to be able to volunteer for any St. Pius X School or Parish related events there are 4 requirements that must be met:
 
- please log on to the Virtus website to check your current Virtus profile and update your profile. 
 
New parents - please log on to the Virtus website at http://www.virtus.org/virtus/index.cfm and click the “Registration” tab to create a Virtus profile and to sign up for a “Protecting God’s Children” class and to submit a background check to Trak-1. 
 
  This is an Archdiocesan Mandatory 3 Hour Foundation Class that has to be taken before you are able to volunteer with any school related events.  You will not be able to do any service hours until this class has been taken.  If you have already taken this class you DO NOT need to take it again. 
 
– When you sign on to create a profile you will automatically be linked to the Trak 1 Background check.  This background check is good for 3 years when at that time you will receive an email to resubmit another background check.
 
- After you have completed your profile you will be required to read and sign the Policies listed on the link.
 
**VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES**:
 
Annual Fund Dinner – Saturday, Nov. 18 – various shifts available.
Reading Volunteers: - Meet every Tuesday from 9:00 – 10:30 AM to listen to individual students in Grades 1 & 2 read.
Reader Board:  Volunteer needed to update the 56th Ave Sign with upcoming school events.
