4th Grade News

May 8th, 2012

Hello Fourth Grade Families! It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Science – Math – Technology Night! Thanks for coming and dropping all those eggs!

Social Studies

We are going to study all 50 states and their capitals starting next week. To help bring these states to life for us I am asking that all students ask family members and or friends that live in another state to mail a postcard to the school. Please ask the person to put one interesting fact about their state and the capital on the postcard. We will be collecting these and start our adventure! A form with all the details will come home with your child today.

Math

Division! Division! Division! – We are going on to long division with a two digit dividend. There will be plenty of opportunities for your child to show you this process. It is a wonderful way to reinforce all the math concepts we have been building – multiplication, estimation and division.

Religion

We have started our final unit in Religion – Unit 5. It begins with the Beatitudes.

Writing

Each student will be able to choose a topic to write a short research report. I am asking that no animals, game characters or cartoons be the subject of these reports. I am so excited to see how much their writing skills have grown this year!

Blessings,

50 States 4th Grade Postcard Project

Please ask your friends or family members that live in another state to mail a postcard to you! This will help the whole 4th Grade class learn more about all 50 States.

Call or email the person, ask them to help you with a class project learning about all 50 states and their capitals.

Ask the person to mail a postcard – to our school –

You can ask as many people as you would like – the more postcards we get the better!
