7/8 Religion

          We are examining the Sacraments of Healing: Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick. We recognize that we all need forgiveness in our lives and that Jesus has saved us all.

7/8 Literature

          We are reading a novel entitled Thunder Cave and written by Roland Smith. It is about a teenage boy’s search for his father in Kenya. Jacob Lansa is looking for his field biologist dad, who is tracking elephant herds to keep them safe from poachers.

8 Language Arts

          We are studying about punctuation and have discovered there are 11 rules explaining the use of commas. The test on periods, exclamation points, question marks and commas is Monday, January 30.

7 Language Arts

          We are learning how to write a research paper. So far we have picked our topics; they range from the origins of money to the Aztec Culture. We have found many articles of research on the internet and made 40 note cards. Next we will create outlines and thesis statements. Then we will actually start writing the paper.

DOL

          Daily Oral Language is a collection of worksheets that contain mistakes in grammar, punctuation and spelling. We correct one worksheet with 10 sentences a week. This is a great way to improve editing skills.

Spelling

          We learn a list of 20 words each week. Many of the words have Latin and Greek roots. We take a test each week, usually on Fridays, to keep these important words in our long term memories.

Due to classroom instruction, homework may change.

All assignments are due the next day unless noted.

Unfinished classwork may be sent home to complete in addition to regular homework.
