Curriculum

Strong Core Curriculum

The academic curriculum at St. Pius X is one that challenges students to develop basic skills and good study habits. The curriculum includes instruction in computers, music and physical education.

The students of St. Pius X  have historically performed well above the Washington state average on standardized tests. At the end of the 2008-2009 school year, 76 percent of St. Pius X eighth graders were accepted to private high schools.

Learning Specialist

The St. Pius X Learning Specialist works with children who need additional academic challenges and those who need extra help. The Learning Specialist dedicates two days per week to the Learning
Resource room. The core subjects addressed are math, literature and reading.

Library

St. Pius X welcomes students to a world of adventure, fantasy, mystery, and intrigue in the St. Pius X School Library.
Historical stories to inspire and gain courage in facing life's quest await them. This year, we are raising the achievement of our students by providing them with research and study skills curriculum. They gain new insights as faculty and students share their passion for reading with weekly book talks. St. Pius X school library is an invaluable resource our students draw upon time and time again.

Technology/Computer Learning

St. Pius X School's computer education starts in
Kindergarten. Younger grades learn the parts of the computer and basic
skills through educational software games. In third grade, students
begin basic typing skills. By eighth grade, most students are typing 30
to 35 words per minute.
