Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

RCIA is a process for interested adults to spend a period of inquiry into the Gospel and teachings of the Church, to prepare for the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) into the Roman Catholic church.
The journey to entry in the Catholic Church includes these steps:
- Inquiry: a period of seeking answers to questions of faith and Christianity. The seeker who wishes to continue is invited to be recognized by the community in the "Rite of Acceptance."
- Catechumenate: during this period of study, Baptized Christians (Candidates) and un-Baptized persons (Catechumens) and will participate in the "Rite of Election."
- Purification and Enlightenment: is a time when the "Elect" make their final preparations for receiving the sacraments.
- Mystagogy: now that the Elect have become full members of the Roman Catholic Church, they will continue their life-long, continuous conversion to full communion with Christ.
The RCIA program at St. Pius X begins in October and meets on Thursday evenings until Easter. For more information, please contact Fr. Knudsen at the parish office, (425) 775-7545.
