St. Pius X School
Pre-School Program
St. Pius X Catholic Pre-School is the first step into the school environment.
This important first step encourages the development of the whole child:
their natural sense of spiritual wonder, their ability to problem solve through
play, and their involvement in planned activities that encourage exploration of new skills.
Our goals for the child:
To provide a positive initial school experience
To develop the whole child: spiritually, socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally
To promote a sense of belonging to a larger caring community
To nurture in each child a love of God's creation which encourages respect for self, others and the world.
Curriculum:
Our curriculum promotes kindergarten readiness in the following areas:
Spiritual - self-discipline, interaction with others, service to school and local community, participation in school activities
Cognitive - pre-reading and pre-math activities, science in God's world, social studies through awareness of community and service, art and music woven throughout the school day, hands-on sensory activities
Language - letter and word recognition, listening and labeling, sentence structure, oral presentations
Motor skills - large and small
Interdependence - self-help skills and problem solving
