When our school and parish members purchase scrip, they're purchasing gift cards and gift certificates that are used just like cash. The scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where many of our families already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. Our parish and school families can use scrip to purchase everyday items like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, they earn revenue for our school.

The reason for the effectiveness of scrip is simple: families generate revenue through purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. An organization of 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars per year on food, clothing and other essentials. If these families use scrip for these purchases, they can raise as much as $40,000 to $80,000 per year for their organization --without spending an additional penny.

Families who purchase scrip certificates actively support the retailers who participate in this program. The reason is simple… they know that buying from a scrip participating retailer provides a steady source of revenue for their church, school, or non-profit organization.

If you sing up with the Albertson’s Community Partners Card program through their web site and designate St. Pius X School to receive credit for your purchases, then Albertsons will donate up to 4% of your purchases to our school. Because this is such a popular program, Albertson’s does limit how much they give out to all organizations in this region. So, in general you can expect about 1% of your purchases to go to the school. They send us a check quarterly. Our School ID for this program is 49000106400.

If you sign up for eScrip through their website and designate St. Pius X School to receive credit for your purchases with your Safeway Club Card and any other cards you wish, then eScrip will donate up to 8% of your purchases to our school, depending on the vendor They send us a check every month with your contributions. We purchase our national gift cards through the Great Lakes Scrip Center. Since November 2005, we have not had a back order when ordering gift cards through them. This has been helpful for our SCRIP program as families can order with confidence; know that their gift cards will arrive as planned.
