We are truly blessed to have priests that offer daily Mass. Mass begins at 8:00 AM and we encourage all students and families to attend. Many blessings and graces come to us by attending Mass. On October 5, we had First Friday Mass at 9:00 AM. The sixth grade students did the readings, petitions and brought up the gifts. Following Mass, the students acknowledged the 5th Annual Worldwide Children and Youth Holy Hour by saying a decade of the rosary praying for our families and peace in the world. Every Thursday at 3:15 p.m. several students gather to pray the rosary in the church.

Childrens Mass On the third Sunday of the month at St. Pius X Church, the students participate by doing the readings, intentions, bringing up the gifts, and singing in the choir at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. It is a wonderful opportunity to share in the liturgy with the St. Pius X community. Following the Mass, our parents will serve coffee and doughnuts.

Jog-a-thon - The Jog-a-thon was a great success with all the parent help and support for this worthwhile event. Thank you to Louie Villanueva and Adam Caballero for organizing the day. A special thanks also goes to Sally Turner and William Elliott, the two head chefs responsible for the Jog-a-thon barbeque luncheon. Their culinary expertise was greatly appreciated. Everyone had a great time. Our Jog-a-thon accountant keeps tally of daily individual, class and school totals. We have a few more envelopes that need to be turned into the school office. To date, the Jog-a-thon has realized $8,000. WOW!!

Student Planners Students in grades three through eight received a student planner for organizing their homework, long-term assignments and activities throughout the year. It is a great way to learn organizational skills early in their busy lives.

Study Hall This year, we will begin study hall for students in grades 4-8 on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:15-4:00 PM beginning October 3. The teachers are committed to the success of each student and will assist with additional homework help if needed. There is no fee for this service. Students must stay in the classroom for the entire 45 minutes and be signed out by a parent at 4:00 PM.  Students that are not been picked up by 4:00 PM will go to ESS. This is a quiet learning environment. If students finish their homework early, they may read a book of their choice. If you would like your child to attend study hall, please write a note indicating permission for your child to attend.

Sally Foster Gift Wrap Sale Today was the kickoff assembly for the Sally Foster gift-wrap sale. The school receives 50% of every purchase. The sale runs through October 22. A letter and a packet of information went home in the family envelope today. Our goal is $12,000 in sales. If we reach this goal, the school will receive an ice cream party. If you would like to order over the Internet, our school customer number is 305630 and the product can be sent directly to your home. If you would like more catalogs, please contact Christa Caballero.
